For the 2004 – 2005 Sororal Year, Rho chapter began by collaborating with the Black Awareness Council of Southern Methodist University to co-host a Z-HOPE Program, Beware of the DLer.  After great success and community awareness advancement with the DLer program, Rho chapter plunged into community service work through volunteering at the Women’s Museum of Dallas and the American Diabetes Walk.  In addition to these community service events, Rho chapter also volunteered with Kappa Zeta at the March of Dimes Walk America in Tarrant County.  January is time to celebrate Founder’s day in appreciation of what they did and how far we have come, so Rho chapter attended Kappa Zeta’s Founder’s Day Luncheon.  Because black history is very important to Rho chapter and the black community as a whole, chapter member created a fun way to learn black history.  The African American Quiz Bowl was given at Southern Methodist University where first and second place prizes were given to the teams who had the highest score out of three rounds of intense questioning.  In the midst of volunteering and history program production, there was a need for some additional community awareness and advancement, so Rho chapter participated in the Z-HOPE Prematurity Awareness Sunday event where we attended Greater Providence Baptist Church and  presented information about prematurity, its prevention, occurance and treatment. Prior to Prematurity Awareness Sunday, chpater members met to assemble donation boxes the March of Dimes Stork's Nest baby clothing drive. The boxes were to hold donated infant items from community members. All donated items were presented to Kappa Zeta Z-HOPE Chair at the November meeting. By now the holidays were appraoching and Rho Chapter decided to make a $25 donation to Tarrant County Meals on Wheels, which feed approximately five small families. Furthermore, at Christmas, a time of love and giving, chapter members created a gift basket for a mother and her two small children currently housed in the Genesis Women's Shelter. After all that hard work Rho chapter deserved to end the year with some fun and relaxation, thus, Rho hosted a Sundae Social where communit members could eat icecream and cookies, play games and enjoy each other's company.

UNTITLED

There were five unique Women
Who started the journey down this road
On the shoulders of those five women
Bore Zeta's first heavy load
Not once did they waiver
Or ever turn around
They taught us that a true lady of Zeta
Always stands her ground
No matter the odds, no matter the tests
Those special women taught us
To always put forth our best
Zeta was something inside
That they truly loved
Something that they knew
They would always be proud of
Now every Zeta must strive
To live the lives that they showed
For the things that they knew
We now know
Like the sky shall always be Blue
The Pearly Gates shall always be White
And when I like my Pearls
Close my dying eyes to darkness
I shall not fear
For they help to lead me down the path
Of God that is right
I have been led by the knowledge
Of the Zeta Light
I will not stand before my maker
Hanging my head down in shame
Because I know five Zetas in Heaven
Made sure that He would be proud
To sign my name.
